Why should I give? I never use agency programs.
Your donation helps thousands of people in our community. The people helped could be your neighbour, a loved one or a colleague at work. Unexpected crisis can strike at any time. Your donation assures that help will be there when it is needed.
Who decides how donor money is allocated?
Interested, trained volunteers determine which programs and services need money the most and provide the greatest benefit to the community.
How do I know that every funded agency needs money?
A panel of volunteers carefully assesses requests for funding, financial statements and service records within the community. Every charitable organization requesting support must apply annually.
I've heard United Way has high administration costs.
On the contrary, the fundraising and administration costs of United Way account for less than 20 cents in each dollar. Hundreds of dedicated volunteers contribute their time to help raise funds in Haldimand and Norfolk and keep our costs low.
I work outside of Haldimand and Norfolk. Can I have my payroll deduction designated to the United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk?
Yes. There are many people who live in Haldimand-Norfolk and work outside the region. All United Ways support the designation of donations to the
United Way of your choice. Indicate on your pledge card that you want all or part of your donation to be sent to the United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes. United Way is a registered charity with Revenue Canada. Official tax receipts are issued for all donations over $10.
Who runs the United Way of Haldimand-Norfolk?
United Way is directed by a volunteer Board of Directors assisted by two staff members and hundreds of dedicated volunteers.
